Entering The Flame

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
To create this coffee table book, I needed to conduct research and source enough images to have at least 80 printed pages where good typography practices would be made visible. Once completed, I created a corresponding website that utilized the visual system of the book design.

PROJECT CONCEPT/DESIGN GOALS
The goal of this project was to create and utilize a visual system and apply it toward a book and website design. To complete this task, I had to research my selected topic and source the body copy from previously published work. To create a color palette and visual feel for what the book would look like, we needed to create three mood boards based on keywords that we felt would represent our design concept best. Through pulling inspiration from our mood boards, I was able to select fonts, a color palette, and a style of photography. I reached out to blacksmiths and asked if they would like to take part in this project and was delighted by the positive feedback during our interviews and as well as with the photos that they provided for this piece. After collecting all of my materials, I was able to showcase my typography skills for this book layout design and transfer the information needed to complete a website designed to sell the book.
